my si sedan

greetings to all!

I tried to buy a black 2000 si 5mos ago. unfortunately, they cant finance it due to hi mileage (blessing in disguise). Salesman asked me to consider bnew instead! awesome! after 4mos of waiting I finally have my first si in black. Took me 2 weeks for break in. So heres i like and dont like about this car after driving it for 3 weeks.

LIKES: :)

handles well & tight. wicked throttle note on accel. stable at higher speeds. good brakes. i like the firm seats and steering wheel feel (not too big). ergonomics are good. revs like crazy, a screamer. good torque too (havent tested the lsd yet). fog lights (option) are nice, does not look like an add on, the switch is incorporated in the stalk & indicated in the instrument panel when lit up. nice cup holders, front & back. steering ratio feels like when you steer, wheels turn the same degree, unlike my 94 ex. electric steering feels ok, at least it will not rob hp like pwr steering belts. a friend that has a si coupe says throttle by wire feel has improved. also when i shift, rpm does not go down immediately b/w shifts. I used to miss turns as am new in this country. no more... navi works! My kids like it better than their mom's crv because of disney channel on xm. :D

DISLIKES:

cant see the corners of my hood, parking needs getting used to. you can raise the seats for better view but i always wanted to seat low (i guess am on the short side- 5'8"). choppy ride. i wish honda brings back double wishbones on fronts, elegant setup, tracks better & provides for lower dash view. the shifter knob looks cheap, aluminum & leather combo. maybe chrome or stainless with leather looks better. or just plain leather without metal. i find shifter travel a bit long for my tastes. I like the skunk2 shifter in my 94ex, it shifts shorter & crispier & knob is heavier. I noticed the black paint under sunlight has blue metal flakes, nice but the tint on my glass is greenish. i wish i got blue glass too. i hate the tinny sounding horn. the car rides higher too than my 94ex. my vin starts with a 2, i was hoping it was a j. turning radius is big. I think car will look sleeker without the spoiler. cleaning the interior glass is more challenging because of the rake, I felt like a contortionist. useless feature in the intermittent wipers are the speed sensitive in the last position. wipers go very fast when you just rev moderately. premium audio not so premium but adequate. subs weak. head lights are yellowish not white but focus is excellent. wont mind paying extra for hid. I wish the navi plays movies too as it has a dvd slot for the navi software.

Overall, I find my si sedan awesome as a daily driver, fun to drive. Now I can really start modding my 94ex! plans to turbo my d16z6. nicer wheels (15 inch), & paint & NO body kits, just a sleeper.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!... and my apologies for such a long review post :D

Good luck with the new car, pictures! I love the new Si four door.

will post pics when i figure out how. today i open it up a bit. my first try bogged down on first. i wish i can get rid or bypass the rev limiter/governor. I had to watch the tach closely, very useful is a red small light that blinks & its time to shift to avoid the rev limiter. sad, you know the engine can still take it. its fast for a stock civic, nothing spectacular. it sounds awesome though. they say the coupe weighs 60lbs less. probably better but i need the additional doors. thanks for wishing me luck on the car. i wont be modding it anytime soon though.
