EGx94
Merry Christmas everyone! I got a problem with my mom's 98 accord ex remote door controls. she needs to press button several times to open it. we changed batteries but to no avail. went to honda dealership and they tried to sell her a new remote for $80 and they will program it. i was thinking the remote kinda got out of sync. throughout the years & it just needs to be reprogrammed or resync. i remembered a similar prob ages ago with my avital alarm, one resyncs it by turning on ignition & pressing a button on the remote then turning off ignition. i tried this but it didnt work. any ideas or input is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance... xer0
Pages 22-191 and 22-192 in the 1998 Accord service manual contain transmitter troubleshooting and programming information. It says that pressing the lock or unlock button five or six times will "reset" the transmitter. You can also "rewrite and register" the transmitter code. The receiver unit memory in the car can learn the codes of up to three different transmitters. Teaching the transmitter code to the receiver unit is a complex process involving 15 steps, with critical timing between certain steps. It involves pressing certain buttons on the transmitter at certain times, and turning the ignition switch on and off, all in specified sequences and timing. You might ask your dealer to do this (have the receiver re-learn the transmitter code). link Edit: Notes: Steps 2 through 12 must each be completed within 5 seconds. Step 13 must be completed within 10 seconds for each remote. Up to three remotes can be stored in the system's memory. All remotes to be programmed must be on hand. A non-programmed remote will work for this procedure. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position to complete the programming procedure. 1: Disarm the security system {if you have one - I didn't} 2: Turn the ignition key to the "ON" (II) position. 3: Press the "LOCK" or "UNLOCK" button on the remote control transmitter. 4: Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" (0,I) position. 5: Turn the ignition key to the "ON" (II) position. 6: Press the "LOCK" or "UNLOCK" button on the remote control transmitter 7: Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" (0,I) position. 8: Trun the ignition key to the "ON" (II) position. 9: Press the "LOCK" or "UNLOCK" button on the remote control transmitter 10: Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" (0,I) position. 11: Turn the ignition key to the "ON" (II) position. 12: Press the "LOCK" or "UNLOCK" button on the remote control transmitter. The power door locks will cycle to indicate that the system is in programming mode. To terminate the programming mode at this point, either turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position, or leave the remote's buttons untouched for over 10 seconds. 13: Press the "LOCK" button on each remote (one at a time) that is to be stored in memory. The power door locks will cycle to confirm each entry. (Complete) This programming step within 10 seconds for each remote or else the programming mode will terminate. link it took me 10 mins what took you 4and half hours to find out. not to be an ass but google saves lives
