some people on here will say they dont but in reality, they are the best mod you can make to your car EVER. I put one in mine and it made a HUGE difference. GET ONE, its the best value in racing! I swear to god.

most ebay chips are just a resistor that fools the ecu and to thinking a sensor is reading something it not really reading ( ie. a 2 instead of a 1).

Sure, but what positive and negative effects does it have on the car? I saw those ads a long time ago and read some of the feedback - quite a few people were happy with this addition.

i don't kno what this chip does it might even be a real one. but i kno the resistor ones sometimes will run off your o2 sensor, so doing this may not let u pass emitions , not to sure of any other negative side effects. TMK (to my knowledge) all this does it like instead of the sensor saying red light it lets it stay green a little longer so u can get more performance. so as long as it not green all the time it should be ok. thats why u see some "chips" with a variable resistor so u can tune it for your car. some thing u can get at radio shack for 2 bucks( don't buy electronic components form there unless u want to be over charged)

off track: any of the regs pleased i am spelling better:-p

A colleague of mine has one on his '04 Civic. It is exactly what you say - a resistor chip which fools the O2 sensor to stay open longer. He tells me that it doesn't affect high-end performance, but gives him noticeably improved acceleration at lower revs. The cost is that it uses a little more gas. It works for him.

that is not a power chip that you guys are thinking. thats an actual ecu rom it looks like to me. thats a tuned rom that goes in your ecu. what you guys are thinking of is the 20 horse speed chip thats all over ebay for 5 bucks. thats the one that is a resister that plugs into your iat(intake air temp) , and fools your ecu into thinking the engine is breathing cold air and not hot air. do not use these. dont be fooled by the price of this chip either thinking its cheap , im not saying it is a quality chip(rom) , but the components needed to chip your obd1 ecu to allow to be tuned by crome or uberdata is about 20 bucks at your local radio shack.

regardless, it doesn't work. you don't need ECU mods unless you have higher compression, bigger cam(s), or both.

Modern ECUs control the timing of the engine several times a second. You can change the priority of what they are trying to achieve by changing the programming. A mate in London took his BMW 330Ci to Munich for reprogramming - without any other mods he has shaved .5s off his 0-60 time and no longer has a 155mph limit. There are companies who program replacement ECU chips to achieve these kind of results. I have no idea what this ebay chip does, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible.

I know how to make power out of a Honda motor and an ebay chip isn't one of those ways. shaving fractions of seconds can be done by learing how to drive your car. also, most of your quick running Hondas don't even see 155mph in the 1/4 mile. there's not much point in going that fast.

Not necessarliy true BigBird.

When I had my SMSP header on, I had a "bogging" problem from 2-3k at partial throttle. Didn't happen all the time though. Dave(SMSP) and Rocket both said it was some kind of resonance problem. Only way to fix it is with tuning. Also if you put on a different IM and header, you will also need to tune. Even if it is just an OEM IM upgrade and something like a DC header.

b19coupe on H-T gained around 10whp on his bone stock CRX HF after tuning with a Hondata S300.

and then the flux capacitor over charged the diaphramic reactor. which caused my erganomic exassterbation chamber to expand leaving my thyroid intake only 1.2 CFM instead of 1.3CFM. What you should have gotten was a 2.9 Liter metamorphisisized equalizer, they have way better PSI than a regular equalizer.
