That Guy
help me out guys, ive never really heard of anyone doing this kind of setup (type R block with GSR head) If i were to see it in some guys car and knew that it is a gsr head on a c5 block id assume he just wants to look cool because he has B18C5 stamped on his block and laugh at him. but how would this setup really perform? i have a GSR head and have been looking into doing a CRvtec or find a good gsr block to slap a motor together. but this guy just talked to me about a C5 block he has and he really wants me to buy it. i first contacted him about it 2 weeks ago cause the only thing wrong with it is stripped head bolt holes, and now that xmas is right here he told me he really needs to sell it and im guessing im the only one interested. Anyways, enough BS. what should i do? get the C5 block or keep looking for a B20 block? i can get the C5 for about the same price as a B20 block. and let me know if you know how it would perform? good, bad, nothin?? EH6TunerDaniel
Its the same as a gsr or b16b block.
Ben.
Its the same as a gsr or b16b block. Pretty much. My old CX had a c5 block with a b16 head and ctr cams/valves and b16 tranny. ran pretty damn nice to have had as little done to it as it did. That Guy
ya i didnt think it would make any difference really besides cams, i just didnt know if the bottom end was different? so now im asking is it worth it to buy the C5 block with stripped head bolt holes or should i wait for something else? i think he said 200 or so for the block with internals. EH6TunerDaniel
Seems like a good deal to me. You should be able to rethread it.

..SSR..
Only difference in a GSR and ITR block is the girdle, windage tray, and oil pan. GSR head will make better power for street driving. Get the B20 block.
That Guy
GSR head will make better power for street driving with the C5 block? why would you recommend the B20 block? im just curious, i dont know which would be better, block wise, to make the most power and the most potential for more power with upgrades. ..SSR..
Yes. C1 head makes power sooner than a PR3 head. B20 block is already 84mm and has the 89mm crank. .5mm bore and you're good to go $52 versus $1,200+ resleeve).
