whatup
hey everyone, I'm new to the site and would like to start off by saying hello. I have been putting some time into my 93 honda accord and have just recently replaced the ICM. I pulled the distributor off to do this and was wondering how i can set the ignition timing and what degrees it should be set to? From the searches that i have done i think that i have to disable the computer with a jumper (somewhere). Other than this, are there any other steps i have to take or can i just go with the normal timing procedure? Thank you for the help.
..SSR..
Use a timing light and put it where it is supposed to go (dist timing). If you want to play with it more than that, you'll need an EMS.
cranny
i thought you knew everything SSR? , cross the blue 2 pin connector under the passenger side footwell. car has to be fully warmed up. FULLY. theres 4 marks on the crank pully , one by itself , 3 in a group an inch away from the one. the group of 3 , you need to mark the middle mark of the 3 with white paint , somin that will show up. with that done , hook the timing light up to the #1 plug wire(timing belt side of engine) , and to power and ground. aim the gun the the crank pully , looking straight down the pointer on the plastic timing cover. make sure when your light is flashes , the white mark you made lines perfectly up with the pointer. if it doesnt , loosen the dizzy and adjust accordingly. actually , i could be mistaken , and im not sure how far back this goes , but some of the old accords , have a little square plate that pops off where the engine meets the tranny , and the timing marks are on the flywheel , beleve it or not. and if you want to advance your timing(which by the way will do nothing for you) , other than what "know it all" seems to not know , you can advance your timing using a timing gun that has the feature.
