Are you serious ? Haha I guess I wouldn't even be allowed into the event if 2nd place is in the 16's, if you buy that CRX swap in a B18c, LSVTEC, H22, or if you want to go all out a K20 you would be runnin low 14's

If you're in the higher altitudes of the Rocky's then you're going to be much slower than the rated. If they say 16.5 is normal, then expect a low-mid 17 in the higher altitude. I can tell you from personal experience, my car is much slower when I go to the Rocky's than when back home here in MO.

the kid with the mustang might have been doing bracket racing where you try to guess what time you're going to run.. it doesn't actually depend on how fast your car is. 16's aren't fast by any means

Yea. He also does Major Drags. But I think I might be getting a 1989(I think) honda civic hb. From my aunt she just got a new car.

i have a 89 crx and i run stock 15.1 with 0-60 mph in 7.2-7.4 ... this week i will be installing a enlightened flywheel ( 8.4 lbs ) and a supersprint header ...i expect the 0-60 time to go down well under 7 secs and the 402m time to go to about 14.5

of course .. those are just predictions.

There are way too many variables to determine what your car will run...track condtions, traction, how good of a driver are you, no missed shifts, hitting the shifts at the power curves...buy the car, take it to the track, come back with results. Thats the only way to really get an idea honestly.

  • 2 weeks later...

if you want a drag car, don't get a crx (or any honda for that matter). get something that is a decent drag car from the get-go. Get a used mustang / turbo DSM / older supra or something like that.

If you want to get into autocross, then start looking towards hondas. HONDAS AREN'T FAST! They take lots of $ to become fast! They ARE reliable, sporty daily drivers. If that mustang spends a few hundred on an exhaust, intake and minor mods (and some driving school) he'll run 14s while you'll need several grand to do the same thing in a CRX.

In the end, remember, use the right tool for the job!

This kid better get signed to a team as a pro driver. No way your stock 89 crx is pulling 15.1 There are B series powered EF's not running that quick. No way, if you wouldve said 15.7 or somewhere around there maybe id believe you but 15.1? You must have the leightest crx and one of those ultra rare stock motors that had more hp then everyone else

it's true. it is a very leight car. it only has an electric sun roof .. and that about it. :) and also it is powered by a engine that is not found in the states. it's a 1.6 16v dohc 130 bhp. i have a modified exhaust sistem at the moment and i run 0-60 in 7 secs and 1/4 mile in 15 secs .. guess i got a lil' carried away the 1st time i said i did 15.1, my bad.
