so i bought an HKS style BOV off of ebay and it looks great...i don't know how a real HKS BOV sounds like...but anyways....when i hit 3,500 RPMs it is not really loud? is this b/c of my turbo set up....( Intake to turbo...and intake filter to the turbo spool ) no intercooler....is this the problem....just not enough air sucking into the intake tube?

Ever heard of a water sprayer on an intercooler?

The air in an intercooler travels through tubes that never get exposed to the outside.

An intercooler is a heat exchanger and in a heat exchanger...

"there are two or more fluids that don't physically touch each other but a transfer heat or energy takes place between them."

Therefore no phase of water is going to hurt your intercooler. Put it back on. You have nothing to worry about.

well since you dont know what its supposed to sound like, its supposed to sound like a sneezing chipmunk. really high piched, not like a kssssh sound with a greddy. its prolly not that loud because its fake. but i dont think the real ones are that loud. but yah, water wont get into your intercooler. put it back on, the colder the air outside - the colder the air inside the intercooler = the car will perform muuuuuch better. are you sure you dont have a cold air intake that looks like an intercooler?

i know how an intercooler looks like...haha...i have the turbo on the car...? but yeah...so it is safe to drive it in the snow then? b/c i don't have a winter beater?

yah its safe to run your intercooler in the winter. if you live in a place like the mid west with all the snow etc, your car will actually run better cuz as i said before, the intercooler will be getting HEEEEELLLLLLA cold air, and coooling it further - like below freezing temps <3

The compressed air from a turbo is like 250-300F. No intercooler will drop it down past 32F.

Idk how hot air coming out of the IC is but its far from freezing.

oold topic but i havent been on for a while. i dont think i meant the engine air going through the ic will be below freezing,i meant he air passing through the finns will be below freezing.
