boostedb16
Okay, I have a built LS B18 engine that I have worked on, scrimped, saved, beg, borrowed, and piced together for about the last year and a half. FINALLY, I have everything I need to make one bad ass drag car...except a body. I have the engine and a GSR trans that I've doghoused (helie cut gears and dogteeth instead of the traditional sycronisers) w/ 3rd stage Moroso axles. The engine SHOULD push upward of 400 hp w/ the help of a little nitrous and one big turbo... Turbonetics T-60 to be exact. I have a 95 hatch right now that i play around w/ on the weekend but have always wanted a bit more. So now I have this. But now on to my question. Since this car will ONLY be used on the drag stip I need to know the LIGHTEST body style that Honda came out w/ from about 89-95. I know the lightest/ most aerodynamic body on the market right now is the Honda Insight but at this point cash has become a great focail point. So here are my options at this point. 89-91 CRX, 92-95 Civic Coupe or Hatch, or 92-95 Civic Del Sol. Could some one please tell me what the gross vechicle weight of each of these vechiles are? Any help will very much areciated.
airjordan223
del sol is about 2500 lbs, civic is about 2350 lbs, and the crx is about 2174 lbs
boostedb16
Which Civic is 2350lbs? The Hatch or The Coupe? I've always heard that hatches are lighter. Is that true or just a myth?

Rick B.
use the hatchback. strip it out completely if its going to be a track car. all you need is a steering wheel, pedals, seat, shifter, and gauges. strip out the engine bay except for the essentials for the motor that youre putting in, as in no powersteering crap, no airconditioning crap, ect. edit: why are you using a t60 turbo? why not use a t3/4 turbo? boostedb16
Hey Thanks for the info. That helps out a lot. In anwser to you question, the reason I am going w/ an LS engine is for no V-Tec (there is going to be three stages of nitrous used on it. Stage One WOT 0-4500RPM 75 shot direct port, Second stage WOT 4500 RPM till she blows an intercooler sprayer, and third stage a 35 wt shot staright to the intake on a push button), easier to find parts, and it was readly available for not if but when I blow it up lol. But the reason I'm using the T-60 set up is I've done a lot of reasearch and the T-60 will give the most potential in the 1/4 mile...doesn't do much in the 1/8 but is nastey I'm told in the 1/4....Plus I got it for a good price through some conacts. Rick B.
the thing is with the t60 is that it will spool late. if you get a t3/4 turbo it will spool faster giving you more power quicker.
Kegger
Yeah but that quicker power won't add up to what he can get out of the T60. He can get lots more outta that than the T3/T04.

boostedb16
The quicker power would be great for an 1/8 mile track but I'm running a 1/4 mile track. I know it won't spool up as quick but thats the reason I'm putting the direct port on there...Something to get me up to the boost.
Kegger
Yeah the spray would play hell on the T3/T04. When you get it in I want to see a vid of that thing runnin the 1/4.
boostedb16
I should have pics of the dyno sheets off the engine dyno here in about a week. I'll post them just as soon as I get them. As far as the video goes all I have to do now is find another hatch body...Thanks guys you have now set my mind out to find one of the hardest cars to find in this area!!! Kegger
I say go for the CRX.
boostedb16
Lol figured you would say that....but if I go with the Hatch I'll have enough room for the fuel cell and battery box in the back.... The thought of those two that close together in a Crx right behind my seat isn't a thought I want to dwell on very long!!!

Hatch92
get a 92-95 cx hatch. they are just under 2100lbs stock.
boostedb16
I know there will be enough room in the back of a CRX for battey box and fuel cell and cage I'm just not comfortable w/ the fact of how close they would be setting together. I like to have at least a littl ebit of room for the battery to move around if something disatoris happens you know?
