97civichx
I just got a Zc motor from a buddy, and was thinking about zeroing the deck to jack up compression and running it N/A. Any thoughts, or cheaper mods? I am a College kid with not alot of money. Also i have the stock auto. trans from the ZC for sale. Also how hard will it be to mount that into my civic. I have a 97 civic hx. Stock D16Y5. Anyone have any thoughts on keeping my motor or doing the ZC swap. I was also thinking about lowering the compression and boosting the piss out of it. Anyone ith thoughts let me know. Thanks , Bill
97civichx
I have a 1997 civic HX with a stock D16Y5. I just got a ZC SOHC black top. I was wondering if i should build this motor or keep the Y5. Also if i do build it up should i make it a N/A motor, or boost it. And if i am going to boost it should i use a turbo or blower? Money is an issue, so what do you think will get me more power? Thank you, Bill
Joe W
Well the ZC is a d series engine except its from Japan. The DOHC and SOHC should both fit right in with stock mounts though you may want to consider replacing them if they are worn. The only thing is you would need an OBD1 version which would be 92 and up i think. If it isnt you may not pass inspection. I am no expert but i believe this information is accurate, and if it isnt im sure i will be corrected. As for mods go with what you want n/a is fine but so is turbo. Good luck and i hope this helps. ..SSR..
Get a new crank. Same as a D16A6. Don't touch the block. Put a Delta Cam 272 regrind in it along with a Y8 headgasket. Ditch the auto. Going to a manual Y8 trans will take a second off your 1/4 time.
