Humphries Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 I think people who get carbon fiber hoods for weight reasons are stupid. discuss.
airjordan223 Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 if its a daily driver, then yeah. some people like the look and do it for that reason. unless youre doing the full weight reduction thing, youre not going to notice a few pounds
Humphries Posted December 8, 2006 Author Posted December 8, 2006 yeah, but people brag about their 8 lb CF hoods all the time and it really just annoys me. its for looks if you dont have slicks on the front.
Chubs Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 My stock hood weighs 43 and my Seibon CF one weighs 12. I also have a Seibon CF trunk. I didn't buy it for the weight reduction thought, I like the look of CF.
airjordan223 Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 ^ still dont think ive seen pics of this
Humphries Posted December 8, 2006 Author Posted December 8, 2006 i used to love CF.. im definitely getting a CF hood just because im in love of how it looks on my car.. but i dont like anything else in CF. some people go alllll out. like they build a box of subs in the back and because it has CF wrap on it, they still think it doesnt weight that much. CF is rice..
airjordan223 Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 the cf boxes ive seen look good. especially when they get all the lines matched up. fake carbon fiber is rice.
Humphries Posted December 8, 2006 Author Posted December 8, 2006 thats what i mean.. like the CF wrap people put on their armrests and center consoles.. wierd to me.
Chubs Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Pic of the hood. I cant put the trunk on until after christmas becuase it is a gift from my mom.
airjordan223 Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 chubs you should get some cf rims to match
Humphries Posted December 8, 2006 Author Posted December 8, 2006 fer shizzle. and CF doors and M3 style Mirrors wrapped in CF! dont forget to get the CF gas door.

Humphries Posted December 8, 2006 Author Posted December 8, 2006 i like the band Chumbawumba that sings "i get knocked down" looks like an oil date due sticker to me.
Chubs Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 FYI, Chubs has a crack in his CF hood. Up near the windshield...passenger side. DAMN YOU !! ahaha nah what happened was I bought the hood used off a friend for 100$! He said what happened was when he ordered it when it came that corner was cracked but he put an apoxy on it so it wouldnt get any worse. Its not too bad prolly about an inch and a half in width.
Humphries Posted December 8, 2006 Author Posted December 8, 2006 so, rice can be nice.. just your taste...

airjordan223 Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 my itr has carbon fiber climate controls, window switches, ash tray, cup holder, air vents and my gauge cluster is carbon fiber also. and its all stock oem. my j's racing intake is after market jdm and my fuel pump cover is carbon kevlar. im a ricer, whadaya know? so is every ferrari enzo and porsche gt owner because their interiors are cf
90IntegraC1 Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 I got my CF Hood b/c my stock hood had a huge dent in the front with some oxidized paint and scratches everywhere to top it off. I like it, and it was cheaper than buying a primered hood for a re-spray.
CleanGSR Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Yeah, buying it for performance is stupid. 5 gallons of gasoline is about the same weight as the difference in a carbon hood vs. stock. Can anybody actually tell a difference in performance with a half tank vs. full tank? A better argument would be that it helps even out the weight distribution on a front heavy FF car....(which is still a stretch).
90IntegraC1 Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Actually, when I'm around E I feel a difference over Full, but other than that no....not at all. And unless your car is 100 % cabon fiber, no one should say they bought it for weight purposes. One more thing: what the hell is up with Carbon Fiber Fenders?!? a fender weighs, oh i dunno, 3 pounds lol....
CleanGSR Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Well the thing is, that you can't justify it for performance when that same $500 could have bought you something that actually added whp and proven performance.
