92civic Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Looking at them. Are they worth it? What have you guys had luck with? I am getting a built vtec head soon so.......would it be good to put one on it? oh,it's a d15b7.
90IntegraC1 Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 well if your head is ported you would want to match the port for the IM to increase the airflow....if you're getting a built vtec head it can't hurt to upgrade to an Edlebrock or Skunk 2 IM. If you do IM, just get a larger throttle body so you can do it all at once.
..SSR.. Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Skunk2. Edelbrock is leaned towards turbo. You don't need to portmatch.
Rick B. Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 skunk2 FTW!! and definitely get a larger throttle body, it isnt cheap though.
Pyrorocketeer Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 You don't need to portmatch. First person I have EVER heard say that.... lets hear the crazy theory behind this one.....
Kicksome123 Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Yes skunk 2 all the way! thats waht im getting ^_^ this month probably =P
90IntegraC1 Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 First person I have EVER heard say that.... lets hear the crazy theory behind this one..... that's what I was thinking.... why wouldn't one port-match?
Chubs Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I have a Skunk2 ported and polishe intake manifold with TPR custom 65mm throttle body, havn't driven it with her on yet due to the fact im still putting on all the braded fuel lines and the fittings, BDL ruel rail and FPR.

Kicksome123 Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Why not, its said that the biggest hold back on a factory engine is the stock intake maifold, I am and I think you should...
..SSR.. Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Actually it is whatever doesn't flow as well as the rest of the engine... Skunk2 IM's don't need to be port matched.
Pyrorocketeer Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 um...all intake manifolds should be port matched. You the great engine builder that you are should know that. Straighter the flow, and less disturbance = more power.
..SSR.. Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Skunk2 is perfectly shaped for a stock D port.
92civic Posted December 6, 2006 Author Posted December 6, 2006 I am thinking max hp with the head I am looking at maybe 160 hp?
TS John Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 That might be a little optimistic without a nice tune on a D15B7...
Humphries Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 yeah for real.. that'd maybe get you 135-140 whp.
