Old technology. Nice power but not big, horrible lag. Not ball bearing.

ok, now for the next question. that turbo on my gsr in a crx shell that im picking up thursday.

is it worth it? fun wise?

Posted

ok, a turbo kit with the turbo

all the piping, the intercooler, everything, at 8psi

Posted

well, the turbo is set up for 15pis at the moment, i want to tone it down so i can build my motor

of course

i want an insanely fast car.

a gsr turbo in a crx boosted up so i can have 300+whp will make me very happy. =)

Save your money and then buy a vette or something... :D

You can get a much better turbo if you look hard...Supra, Evo, and Subaru guys are dumping turbos all the time. GT35R's are coming onto the secondhand market from guys selling twin-turboed Cobras for GT-500's and such.

if i build the rex right, it will be faster than vettes. besides 300whp in a crx will be fast enough as it is.

Get a different turbo. GT28RS will get you 300whp and spool WAY faster.

Posted

agreed , dont take much really to hit 300 with a gsr.

With the right setup you could make 300whp or very close to it at 8 ish psi.

60-1's are odd turbos.. they work in most applications, and always make good power, but spool pretty late. It's up to you. It might not be too bad, but spooling early always helps.

prolly 6000 rpm with a 1.8 litre 4 banger , maybe little less.

Posted

hopefully it will be sooner than 6000rpm which cranny said.

that would pretty much be a waste.

Posted

Rick just get a ball bearing turbo. You get boost a lot quicker and thru the entire RPM band.

Posted

Oh it will, cranny just needs to stop smoking crack or whatever it is that Canadians do.

6,000 sounds about right for a B16 at 30 psi. A B18 can spool that turbo to 9 psi in about 3,500 RPM.. 4,000 tops. You should be making in the range of 300whp.
