Buying A VTEC Honda

Recommended Posts

Hey guys this doesnt really fit into any section so i`ll just put it here.

Im looking at buying a honda VTEC either a Civic or Prelude b16a of course or H22 is thats the prelude vtec. Whats faster? I`m in western australia and i would really love an old ED Civic SiR or a old box chape CRX vtec but theres like 3 in the eastern states the practicly dont exist here.

Also do you guys know that the civic and preulde do 0-100 stock to give me an idea to. I think i would rather the prelude seeing im into bigger cars dont like small cars.

I know a friend had a 93 DelSol CRX with a B16A2 hotted up and holy krap that was a fast car!

your thoughts?

Thanks

how about buying a civic and using its light weight body advantage and put in a prelude motor (h22)? You can probably find a used engine from a junk yard. Then you can buy mods for the prelude engine (cold air intake, headers, cam gears, etc. :)

I would honestly rather have a D16 over a B16 anyday, but I would take my H over all of them

+5, gotta love the 2.2 L of displacement.

FTW.

I honestly think I hate B16's, you can get a B18C1 for about the same price, or a D16Z6 or Y8 for 1/4 of the price and build and boost that and gain the same power.

EFF b16's.

Yeh i would rather a D16 over a B16 anyday?

What the hell dude. Ones vtec one isnt. Are you mad?

uh, no. D16Z6 is a 1.6 L SOCH VTEC engine sir.

D16Z6 > B16A2 anyday...just personal preferance.

But if you do go with the car with the B16, you'll be wishing you bought the lude with the nice H22.

Why would u want a SOHC?

I saw a video were they hotted up an SiR CRX the boxy one stock standard with 180,000kms on the clock it pulled a 15.2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude I could drop under 2 grand into my D16Z6 SOHC VTEC and beat the crap out of that car. So don't hate on single cams. Lotta guys on here hold them very close to their hearts, me included.

A D-series motor can own all if it built right. There are NA Ds that are pullin 11s out there so careful with what you say bout 'em.

Edit: And 15.2 with a B in a CRX is pretty slow actually.

ROFL.

I meant SOHC, not SOCH obviously.

anyway, a 15.2 with a B16 in one of the lightest cars around.

That's pitiful.

D's are nasty if built right for N/A applications or boosted correctly, so do some research before you hate on the single cams, they pwn.
