DX97
Yesterday I drove my car to work and after i finished my shift I went to go start my car and it wouldnt start. I tried again and all it amde was a clicking noise. I got a jump start and made it home. I parked it for about 2 hours then tried starting it. again all i got was a clikcing noise. when i put the key in the iginition the lights still work and the radio still goes on. also my alarm light is still lit when i close the door. I was jsut wondering if you think it is my battery or my altenator.
Rick B.
sounds like the alternator isnt charging the battery. take it to autozone or kragen, or whatever is near you. they can test it for you as well as the battery.
coolcat467
I'm thinking that it's a bad battery. Alternator was still putting out electricity.
mycarsux
I say both. Replace both the alternator and the battery.
xer0
I'm thinking that it's a bad battery. Alternator was still putting out electricity. after u start it if u can drive around no problem then it is the battery not the alternator. cheack the date on the side of the battery or jsut go get it tested or just replace it. Clicking usaly is it trying to start but doesnt have enogh juice to get the car to turn ova, so u just hear a relay? correct me if i am wrong

92ge
start up the car and disconnect the positive battery terminal...if your car dies then its your alternator, but if your car still runs...its just a bad battery...and if it makes that clicking noise when you try starting it up...take a little hammer and tap on your starter, it should start right up...
