Pballer2005 Posted July 8, 2006 Share Posted July 8, 2006 hey a couple people have told me that the timing belt on a civic has a life span of 100k miles and i'm at 90k right now, is this true? should i get it replaced soon? any other things i need to do at 100k miles, stuff like spark plug gaping, timing adjustments and stuff like that? its a 99 civic ex coupe, bone stock. Changing timing belts is really expensive though. You should ask around for the best prices. And yes, you should change them out. cranny Posted July 10, 2006 Share Posted July 10, 2006 ive yet to see an engine get damaged from timing belt breakage but thats just me. timing belts are not exspensive , but paying someone to put it on for you when you can do it yourself is. for us here in canada is 160,000 kms so 100,000 miles as youve said. also if you live in a place with adverse weather conditions it changes.
