Where do I find the blue wire for my tach from b16a2

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I did do a search and everyone says it is the blue wire...okay, so I find the distributor and I vampire tap into both blue wires, I hook a voltmeter to this and rev the mtor, but one blue wire has no voltage fluctuation and the second is a constant 12v.

So where exactly do I find this tach wire? If it's on the ignition coil, I haven't found that yet, I found the distributor and there's only 4 wires, no 5th wire to an ign. coil....

I installed a gauge cluster with tach and the only thing not working is the tach, I figured, I would need to splice the blue tach wire to the engine harness - since I bought the car this way and who knows if everything is connected correctly.

as far as i know all hondas are wired for a tach even if they dont have one from dealer. all you need to do is get a cluster for that year and make and plug it in.

Try hooking the tach up to the one with the constant 12V. i know that it says that it should fluctuate but when I hooked mine up it didn't fluctuate but my tach works fine.

Casper: Do you have an external tach - since my car has a swap, I figure I would just take the blue wire like you mention and run it to the dash where the B8 connector pin is (the light blue wire) which should be for my tach. This would just bypass the unknown status of the engine wiring harness.

Also, the cluster I purchased could have a broken tach, but I seriously doubt that. Is there a way to test the tach in my cluster manually ??
