sohcVTEC-E
I bought a P2P ECU as I piece together my head swap... I was wonderin if I threw it on there with my Y5 head, do you think my car would run better??? I know VTEC-E would kick in at 4500 but thats all good... ..SSR..
Won't be any better.
sohcVTEC-E
Cancelled the P2P order, decided to go with a P28 and I bought a conversion harnass and chipping kit as well. Good stuff.
EH6TunerDaniel
Ive got a p28.
sohcVTEC-E
Chipped or stock? How is it workin for ya?
..SSR..
Chip won't do anything for you. P28 won't control the VTEC-E either.
sohcVTEC-E
So you're sayin my second intake valve isn't ever gunna open?
..SSR..
It will just be straight up VTEC I'm assuming.
sohcVTEC-E
Naw because my cam only has one intake lobe. I am 99% sure that the second intake valve will open up at 4500 as opposed to 3000.
..SSR..
If thats the case, get a cam made and have VTEC engage all the time. One valve open kills power.
sohcVTEC-E
I've heard of people shoving a pin in the rocker arms so both valves are constantly functional. Amen to one valve causing lack of power. In fact, my car is just slow overall.
SolLesHonda
Haha. You can get VTEC killer cams. Always in VTEC = no gas
sohcVTEC-E
That is pretty funny. Yeah dude. I figured I'd prolly get like 20 miles to the gallon as opposed to 42. Lol
SolLesHonda
So you'd still be getting more than most Americans. Good ole Honda engineering.
sohcVTEC-E
f*ck yeah. It's what you get for driving a 2000 lb car with a lil lawnmower engine in it. Japanese engineering in the house!
cranny
prolly wear a cam faster or more than normal though , having both intake valves ride on one lobe all the time.
SolLesHonda
Who cares. Lol. Not our car. Just kidding. Post a vid. I want to hear what that crapt sounds like. VTEC all the time?
cranny
thats where we get fuked solles with our VTEC-E engines. you cant even hear the difference its not like DOHC. you wanna know what it would sound like in VTEC all the time? like it wasnt in VTEC all the time , hahaha. ..SSR..
Wrong. It will lump at idle and low RPM like a V8 does.
cranny
im sure he was talking about under full throttle acceleration but thanks for your useless post just to take a dig once again. not saying your wrong just not what the discussion was over. and for the record a VTEC E engine most likely wouldnt even lump at idle with both intakes riding on VTEC lobe , its not like they design it that way for performance , its for saving fuel. every other engine even non VTEC , the intakes have thier own lobe with same lift and duration , so if anything it would make it a normal non VTEC engine. sohcVTEC-E
Haha! I highly doubt my cam will wear out. And I can hear a difference when my VTEC-E kicks in...
