prelude94 Posted March 28, 2002 Posted March 28, 2002 im planning to get a civic si if someone can help me what would i need to do to make it as fast as a type r, i know is the same engine so help me guys------my prelude still kicks ass
theotherachiever Posted May 8, 2002 Posted May 8, 2002 first u wanna break ur engine in, like i said in another thread it wont take much to make it as fast as a type-r, i believe i type-r has maybe 185-200 hp? cant remember exactly... you could get maybe 240hp if you got a turbo. i/h/e would help you out also but if thats all you get i dont think ull reach the hp of a type-r
theachiever Posted May 9, 2002 Posted May 9, 2002 hi the first thing i would do to ur civic would be to inhance the handling capibilites. I would get some progressive lowering springs and tokico shocks, anti sway bars and a rear strut bar( i think the si comes with a stock struct bar under the hood). the type r come with really good(stiff) suspention so you should try an match it or make urs even better. After that i would get intake, exhaust, and headers, maybe type r cams and pistons. if ur willing to spent the money on a turbo charger then i think you should one...that will put u way past a type r.
theachiever Posted May 9, 2002 Posted May 9, 2002 ---my prelude still kicks ass wut do u have on ur prelude?
TrueSi Posted May 11, 2002 Posted May 11, 2002 Well dude the first thing you are gonna have to do is wait at least a year before you can start buying aftermarket parts unless you have the cash and you can have a custom turbo kit build just for you. but for right now I would suggest you break i your engine and then get a nitrous kit. It will help you out on special occacions. Wil Dark Age Performance
stuckmofo Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 does the new civic have the ivtec? Anyway the new ones sorta suck, the jdm b16 is cool but the usdm is crapty
optional187 Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 yes, the new si's have k-series engines in them that have ivtec. this thread is 2 years old...don't bring back old threads. this jdm is cool usdm is crap thing is getting annoying...
BigBirdSucks Posted March 21, 2004 Posted March 21, 2004 they're basically the same motor anyway....so how does USDM suck compared to JDM motors?
stuckmofo Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 they're basically the same motor anyway....so how does USDM suck compared to JDM motors? If you were to compare Jdm has more horsepower, in my book that makes it better but what do i know? ???
BigBirdSucks Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 that depends which B16A you're referring to, thanks though.
stuckmofo Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 well the b16a out of a XSi has 160 which is till equall to the usdm b16a3. But the b16a2 is 170 and its a JDM motor
..SSR.. Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 You're an idiot. JDM and USDM make the same amount of power. Honda justed said that the JDM ones make more so they would be considered an improvement over the older JDM B's.

BigBirdSucks Posted March 24, 2004 Posted March 24, 2004 well the b16a out of a XSi has 160 which is till equall to the usdm b16a3. But the b16a2 is 170 and its a JDM motor the B16A2 makes 160 HP. the B16A SiR II makes 170ish. the B16A2 is not JDM.
stuckmofo Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 Theres only 3 b16s b16a XSi 160 b16a2 170 b16a3 Si 160
BigBirdSucks Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 Theres only 3 b16sb16a XSi 160 b16a2 170 b16a3 Si 160 no! B16A2 is from a '99-'00 civic Si and makes 160 HP. the B16A SiR II makes 170 HP. they're two different motors.
bojangles Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 man i would rather go with the hond ex. b/c the only difference between the ex and the si is the dohc and u can just add a couple extra parts to the ex for it to keep up with the si.

stuckmofo Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 uhhhh, no you can't. intake, header, and exhaust aren't going to match you up with a B16. ya what makes you thin that twin cams with vtec won't RAPE a SOHC piece of crap?
