sohcVTEC-E Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Will an EX trans fit on my HX? Will it be a bitch to swap?
XScarAudio Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Yes, it's a pain in the ass. Yes it will fit. Why do you want to do it?
sohcVTEC-E Posted March 8, 2006 Author Posted March 8, 2006 Arent the gear ratios better than my stock trans? (i dont know the code)
sohcVTEC-E Posted March 8, 2006 Author Posted March 8, 2006 Definitely worth it. EX trannies rule. thanks. what do i need? Trans, axle shafts, shift linkage, ECU? Will i need to weld a new mount(s)? Where can i get a cheap one?
SolLesHonda Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 ECU ? No. I would say while you have the new tranny, before putting it in, do all of the work you would want to do to it before it goes on the car. Final Drive, new synchro's, clutch/flywheel combo, and LSD.
..SSR.. Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Yes it will fit. No, it is not hard. Takes me 1.5 hours to drop and reinstall a trans.
cranny Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 if hes just puttin in a stock powered car just throw a new pilot bearing in it and run it. as long as you know its a fully working tranny with no grinds or issues. as far as i know your mounts , etc , will fit that tranny as well. if im missin somin, someone else will let ya know.
XScarAudio Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Yes it will fit. No, it is not hard. Takes me 1.5 hours to drop and reinstall a trans. 1.5 hours if everything has been apart. If he's never taken the whole front end apart before, stuff is bound to break / bind /fight. Then he should bank a weekend.
..SSR.. Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 You don't have to take the front end apart. You remove the axles, remove the exhaust manifold. Remove the starter. Disconnect the slave cylinder. And unbolt the transmission.
