Definitely worth it. EX trannies rule.

thanks. what do i need? Trans, axle shafts, shift linkage, ECU? Will i need to weld a new mount(s)? Where can i get a cheap one?

ECU ? No.

I would say while you have the new tranny, before putting it in, do all of the work you would want to do to it before it goes on the car.

Final Drive, new synchro's, clutch/flywheel combo, and LSD.

Yes it will fit. No, it is not hard. Takes me 1.5 hours to drop and reinstall a trans.

if hes just puttin in a stock powered car just throw a new pilot bearing in it and run it. as long as you know its a fully working tranny with no grinds or issues. as far as i know your mounts , etc , will fit that tranny as well. if im missin somin, someone else will let ya know.

1.5 hours if everything has been apart. If he's never taken the whole front end apart before, stuff is bound to break / bind /fight. Then he should bank a weekend.

You don't have to take the front end apart.

You remove the axles, remove the exhaust manifold. Remove the starter. Disconnect the slave cylinder. And unbolt the transmission.
