pimpskillet Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I have a friend who is a marine and has moved across the country from San DIego to North Carolina. His wife is still at home, and is getting ready to move the final bunch of their stuff. Biggest problem she has is that their 92 accord wont start. She said her cousin was messin with it previously and now it wont start. I have never put my hands on a Honda so I dont know anything about these cars. THe problem is this.. when she gets into the car the dome light flashes, and when i was on the phone with her, i could hear the clicking of what sounds like a hazard relay? When she tries to turn the car over, you can hear the clicking from the starter relay I would assume. Its the 'fast click' like I've heard from my vehicles when the battery is low. The only thing that is odd to me is that dome light flashing.... She has 2 days to fix it, and no one near her to help and i'm trying to help her, but I'm in Indiana, about 2500 miles away.... she is nervous about tellin her hubby in fear of him getting mad at her, more or less... Any help or info would be great. Thanks again! Eric
CleanGSR Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 first things first.....try jump starting it. It probably has enough power for the dome light but not enough to crank the engine.

Yeah thats my first guess... I told her to get somone over there to try that, as Im not there, I cant do it for her.. but the flashing dome light thing puzzled me. Almost sounds like an alarm system that needs to relearn the key fob.. but she said the remote she has says honda on it. So its not aftemarket or anything, thanks for the quick reply...
CleanGSR Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Yeah, it sounds like it could be a starter disable on an alarm, but honda's didn't come with that.

'your phone number just makes this do do do do sound" lol I told her to get someone over there to try to jump it, and am asusming thats the problem. just wonderd if there was anything funny or special I needed to know about these cars. Thanks again. i'll let ya know what i find. Eric
LiquidSnake Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I had the same problem on my '91, but jumpstarting didnt work, which means its not the battery. Mine won't even try to engage the engine, it just turns and clicks. I'm getting power to the interior, but it won't start!
cranny Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 check all grounds , engine to chassis and battery to chassis specially snake. same for you pimp , or maybe battery terminals are corroded or loose. if your sayin just opening the door with no key in ignition and the dome light flashes than yeah thats wierd. if your sayin that with door open and key in ignition on the on position the dome light flashes than yeah , thats still wierd , lol.
