iswm Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Just bought a 1997 Civic EX. It has a Kenwood cassette player that the previous owner had installed, but I'd like to replace it with a new CD player. I don't know too much about cars, so I figured I would ask you guys. Since the stock player has already been replaced, will I need to buy a new mounting kit and wiring harness? Or is that stuff already in place? Would be nice to save some cash on that stuff if I don't need it.
xalexjx@yahoo.com Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 probably not, all cd players are pretty close to the civic radio comartment, you may need to buy the wire plug adapter and wire that, everything else you need should come with the cd player
rob669 Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 i suggest u get the wireing adapter, better safe then sorry. my buddie royaly messed up his car when he added his deck with out the adapter. for the extra 12 bucks its worth it. and the kits or what not because its a civic its all in the box witht he deck. nothing to worry about.
iswm Posted March 20, 2006 Author Posted March 20, 2006 Ended up just buying a wiring harness that plugs into the factory wiring, cutting the connector off of it, and splicing it to the wries on the harness that came with the head unit. Worked like a charm.
