dr5tock Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 ok, so when im sittin at a stoplight or sittin in traffic, or when i go to park..my car idles funny...95 civic...it goes id say between 1200 rpm down to 800 rpm, and it bounces...go back and forth...now i heard its my IC VALVE, and then i heard its my EGR VALVE...so if u guys no what it is, and can tell me, i preciate it! My car used to do that too. I took it to a shop and they said that it was my O2 sensor. well it wasn't that. so i replaced my PVC valve (it's right on top of the engine behind the valve cover.) it costed like 5 bucks i think at napa. it helps your car idle smoothly. you usually replace it every single year. if you take out your old one and shake it and don't hear anything rattle inside of it then you have a bad PVC valve. it should sound like there is something in it. edit: it might be PCV valve and not PVC hahaha
95whtcivichatch Posted March 3, 2006 Author Posted March 3, 2006 anybody else have anything to say about my problem???
xalexjx@yahoo.com Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 try the idle, turn it up like 100-400 rpms, if that doesnt work come back here,
SexyH22 Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 could be alot of things. pcv valve, or an air bubble in your coolant or a vaccum leak. also it could be your idle air control valve (iacv). if i had to guess. it guess your iacv
cranny Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 its your high idle valve i think. had this prolem few times before. dont turn your dam idle up you should never have to touch that on an FI car unless it was already messed with. a haynes or a book will help you find it (on B series its 3-4 inches closer to drivers side of car from TPS on back on intake manifold).and all you have to do is take it apart , clean it and put it back together most times and it works again. when your high idle valve sticks open it creates a vacuum leak.
Kastigir Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 It's been mentioned already but I'll reiterate. Most likely the IACV. It's a fairly common problem on older Hondas.
xalexjx@yahoo.com Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 yea thats what honda said it was the iacv w/ my civic, so i replaced it and it still did it, try turning the idle up slightly, it did it for ,y car(repeat) o yeah does it only do it when it is warm or all the time?
cranny Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 i think me and kast are talkin about the same thing but its prolly your high idle valve(what honda books call it). and in most cases no need to replace simply clean and reinstall. makes car idle up and down over and over , sometimes almost stall when comming to a stop. (high idle valve stuck is a vacuum leak)
Turbonetic04 Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 i have the same problem too and still havent found it on my 1994 Honda Civic 4 door. so far i had replaced my Idle Air control Valve and my friend told me i have a vacuum leak. i don't know where's the hose can some one help me ???
xalexjx@yahoo.com Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 just look for a broken or torn vacum hose, theres quite a few, read all the earlier comments,
