Verbal Killa Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Should i buy it? runnin a kenwood 1800w 9152d amp. wit 2 15" kicker comp vr's 2005. Audiopipe 4 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit 1600 Watts to 2100 Watts
CleanGSR Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I'd probably run 2 gauge with an amp that size. Just my opinion.
cranny Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 no that kit is a1 , just what you need. 4 gauge is good for you no need to go any bigger. it says 1800 watt , that means its 900 nominal , 4 is plenty. what resistance are your subs? 4 or 8 ohm?
90IntegraC1 Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 you should do fine with that wire, even though i would go with 2 gauge

90IntegraC1 Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 nice...kickers hit hard i hope you like rap, b/c they will detory the sound quality of any other style of music, not like it matters if rap sounds like shiat.
Verbal Killa Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 ^^Ya i only listen too Rap an Reggaeton. ahaha so should i buy that 4 gauge kit? is it good enough or go 2 gauge
90IntegraC1 Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 i, personally would go with 2 gauge, but 4 will work fine. don't worry about it though, you should be okay.
Verbal Killa Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 ^^Ok then. ill try too find a 2 gauge an post it up. if i dont find one then ill just buy that one. ;)
CleanGSR Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Get the 2 gauge kit to play it safe. WHat's the price difference between the 2?
90IntegraC1 Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 buy the godforsaken 2 gauge kit then, $15 is pocket change nowadays
cranny Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 2 gauge isnt needed like at all but whatever turns your cranks. yeah its only 15 bucks in the diff but its also 15 bucks that dont have to be spent. ive wired in over a dozen full stereo installs, and never have i used 2 gauge. its simply overkill.
dr5tock Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 yeah i've never used 2awg either.4 or 8 agreed, unless you are doing some serious output you wont need 2awg. and from experience i wouldn't wire off name brands because of the quality. it may say 4 awg but it might only be 8 awg with extra insulation.
90IntegraC1 Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 i've used 2 gauge wire plenty of times (5 or 6), and he's going for a high power application, over 2000 watts, in that case i would use 2 gauge wire, just my opinion though. 4 gauge will work, just me personally would use 2 gauge.
cranny Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 if your talkin 2000 watts nominal power not peak than yeah i can see understand you usin 2g in fact if i was installin a system that was runnin 2000watts nominal i would recommend 0gauge. but 1000 watts nominal is fuk all for 4g to handle.
CleanGSR Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 He said 1800 watts. He never specified if it was peak or nominal. I guess that's what makes this into a mis-understanding. And I'm too lazy to look up the amp and see if it's 1800 rms or peak.
dr5tock Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 also if you are pushing that much power you might want to upgrade your alternator and battery. optima yellow tops are nice. but any deep cycle battery will do. i've seen guys put marine batteries into their cars. with that much power output you will drain your stock battery quickly because your alternator can't pump out enough juice.
