Sup everybody, I just wanted to talk about some stuff my friend did to his civic. He has a 1998 honda civic and he swaped a CRV motor into it and changed the heads to a si I think and plans on doing more mods. It went in good except the motor was to tall, and he could not close the stock hood, so he is building a ram hood to adjust for the hieght. My question is, is he a total ass or has any one els thought or tried this befor. I am guessing it will be fast after he finishes all of the mods but at base level what do you think of hims aginst a real si or gsr motor no contest right? I keep telling him that just because it is a bigger motor it may not be faster than a si motor. I just wanted to see if any one has welcomed.

This is nowhere near a new swap. Although more rare than an ls-vtec or straight b swap, it's still done a decent amount. BBS on here has a del sol with a mildly built CR-Vtec setup putting out some good power.

yea i belive bbs has that swap...its been done before...a farly common swap..

Oh nice I am new to cars as I raced bikes and decided to get a civic over a mustang because of the under dog thing, but now a days imports are so quick it is almost a fair fight for horse power. I have never heard of it, thanks for the quick replies.

chances are, he probably took short cuts and is running completely stock internals. this is a big problem because it won't rev high enough for the cams to make peak power. it probably won't be as quick as a stock Si or GS-R, but it still has a lot of potential. and yes, I've had my CR-VTEC for a while. it's a pretty rare swap simply because people like taking short cuts. unfortunatelywith a CR-VTEC or LS-VTEC, short cuts = unreliable.

you're right the CR-V isn't VTEC, but with some mods and a VTEC head, it can be. seriously, learn how to spell VTEC.

and I'll put my B series against your D series any day of the week...I see more D series Hondas than B series. but hey, I guess you think your ZC is crazy fast. that's cool.

a kid i knew who had a CR-VTEC swap couldnt closed his hood either. he had a carbon fiber hood and had to shave away some of it. i dont know if thats normal or not.

Ok, you're "p.s." is wrong ... it's "B series are like tampons, every pootang needs one." Get it right. Do me a favor, stop talking. You are ruining it for us people who own decent/respectable D series.

Hey hey hey, let's not hate on all D series man. Come on, don't forget about me. But you are right, D series are in way more Hondas. But my D > his ZC.

+1 for the homo. If telling yourself that a D series is better than a B makes you sleep better, than be gay and sleep with your boyfriend better.
