EH6TunerDaniel Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 ok, i was debating on painting my car flat black, i have asked a couple of people i know and thought i would post the question on here, so, im just asking your opinion on if i should paint it flat black, i want honest opinions, whether you would like it or not. thanks
SolLesHonda Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 It's your car. But I say no. Gloss black > flat black
blackdelsol Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 shiny > dull. you might as well sandpaper your car IMO
CleanGSR Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 If you are intent on going with black then I say gloss. Flat black will make it look primered. If you like the flat look then go with a blue and then a matte clear coat instead of a gloss clear coat. I've seen that before and it looks pimp.
SexyH22 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 if your looking at spray painting it then yeah flat black. if your getting a real paintjob do it right and get gloss.
blackdelsol Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 just look at sexy's car. it's beautiful. if it was flat black it wouldn't look half as nice.
SexyH22 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 thanks. and yeah it would look like my butthead...
cranny Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 your paint looks mint H22 lovin it. my civic got a couple blemishes nothin major though.
blackdelsol Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Mine got a brand new paint job half a year before I bought it. it's sooooo shiny I love it.
SolLesHonda Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 If you really want to look pimp, and not like Sexy's butthead, paint it Captiva Blue Pearl.
xalexjx@yahoo.com Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 depends on your car...lots of small dents and dings that your not going to fix go flat., if the body is strait or oyur going to straiten it go gloss...the project sti a magazine did like 2 years ago or so didnt look so bad, and they used flat black...
EH6TunerDaniel Posted February 23, 2006 Author Posted February 23, 2006 i loved project sti, it was beautiful in my opinion, but, i guess for now im leavin my paint alone, i dont have the money to get it gloss or anything, just a local shop here did it to a couple trucks and they look good, im friends with theguy and could get it for about $100-$150. but i think ill leave it alone for now
Humphries Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 my accord is 4 different colors of Eucalyptus green, black, dark grey and light grey primer. but go gloss.
CRG7 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 i say go for the flat... as long as it's a good job, then it should look great
CleanGSR Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 That would definately be one way to stand out a little in the huge crowd of modded cars. I think a really good quality flat paint job would look great. Like I mentioned above the flat blue car I saw was one of my favorite paint jobs I've seen.

Like I mentioned above the flat blue car I saw was one of my favorite paint jobs I've seen. flat blue seems like itd look great. but i think a good quality flat black would look good as well. i dont think flat black by itself would look good, i thik youd need to get some graphics or soemthing, or some highlighted sections gloss. idk if youve seen it but remember the pimp my ride where they did that oldsmobile wiht the scallops and that one big as stereo the jack hammer thing. that paint job looked good. they had glossy scallops and glossy sections on that car.
JDM_Hamster Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 sorry but im just not a big fan of flat colors, you should get metallic black!!!
xalexjx@yahoo.com Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 we painted my bro's lude flat black and it didnt look half bad
airjordan223 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 i think if youre gonna take the time to paint a car, you should be 100% sure on the color and that it WILL look good for your taste. cause if you do go flat black, then dont like it, its a waste. just make sure you get what you want
JDM_Hamster Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 i dont know if he is or not but, if you do paint a car flat black and then put a CF hood or anything CF on it, it would look really bleh but thats just my opinion...
CleanGSR Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Not if he put dry carbon fiber on it. Dry Carbon has the flat look too. A flat black paint job with a dry carbon hood trunk combo would look pretty nice IMO.
