d16y8crx Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Is my Vtec working? The ECU is for a 90 3 door civic SI, but i have a MSD switch wired to it. Is it working??
90IntegraC1 Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 floor it and see if you feel an extra jolt around 5000 RPM's
d16y8crx Posted February 23, 2006 Author Posted February 23, 2006 the ECU is a 90 civic 3 door si....does that ECU even know what vtec is...(i dont think so) going for a Dyno on friday, i guess i'll find out then.
Humphries Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 The ecu should know it if it hasnt been switched out before..
dustin_crxsi Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 If you hooked up the RPM activator switch up correctly, It will turn on. I believe you can adjust the RPM's to engage Vtec with it too..You may be running v-tec at like 500 rpms, thats why your not feeling it

VTEC might engage, but without a VTEC ECU, it won't do anything. a non-VTEC ECU has no idea what to do when VTEC engages. fuel, timing, oil pressure, and other things will be way off.
xalexjx@yahoo.com Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 it should engage upwards of 5000 rpms or higher, not at 500
cranny Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 find out what year your engine and distributor is and get the ECU that corresponds to it is my suggestion. Get the proper engine wiring harness i would suggest as well unless it is.
