CleanGSR Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I'm pretty sure they call it bid sniping when you come in and bid at the very end to take over and win an auction. Just wondering if anyone knows if this is against ebay's rules or not, cause I plan to do it tomorrow on an item that I really need.
Batman Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I dont think it is as long as you post the hier bid you win just like in any action. Just make sure you get to it on time thats how I missed out on a GSR head for *&%@ing $25
TLontheDL Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Its fine...cheap but fine. I do it all the damn time! What bugs me is if I am eye'ing a hot item and it was just put up (6 days left or so), I see there are 10 bids or something like that. So if it starts out at 0.99 and 10 hrs of being put up, It shoots up to like 200 bucks, it pisses me off!! I hate dumb a*ses on ebay.
CleanGSR Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 Yeah, I usually don't care about an item enough to worry about it, but there's a red fender on there that would save me a lot of money in paint, so I'm going to do this at the end of the auction when there's about 30 seconds left throw my max bid out there.
CleanGSR Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 Yeah, I've actually done it quite a few times, just was wondering if ebay had a rule against it. I had thought I heard somewhere they did, so thought I'd see what you guys thought.
SolLesHonda Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 B16- What are you trying to buy, if you don't mind me asking.
CleanGSR Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 SolLesHonda- There's a milano red driver's side fender for sale in pretty good condition right now. Bidding ends tomorrow afternoon. It's hard to tell by the picture if the paint is faded on it or not, but either way I can wetsand it and buff it to match. Will save me over $200 from having to have one painted and put on.
sup Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I bid snipe all the time, thats how I won Perfect Dark Zero last night
CRG7 Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Anyone who is accustomed to buying/selling on eBay knows that it's really only the last 5 minutes of the auction that matters. If eBay was against people bidding near the end of an auction, then why do they have the "watch item" option, and why do they notify you every time you're outbid? If you're talking about using a program to automatically place bids for you... I'm not sure if it's against the rules, but I do feel that it is wrong to do that. eBay lets you place your maximum bid, and automatically bids for you that way, so I really don't understand why people would use auto-bidders in the first place.
CleanGSR Posted February 19, 2006 Author Posted February 19, 2006 Yeah I got it, although paid more than I planned. I went as high as I did because there's a good chance I won't have to get it painted. Cost me 107.50 plus 16.00 shipping so I'd better be able to get it to match.
