Ditch those rotors. Why'd you paint the calipers?

You need to check your oil more often. Don't think the car will tell you it needs more.

why would i do that??? the stoping power is dinging!

the calipers aint painted there standard from hispecspecmotorsport apart from having the brand machined off

why dont you like the rotors SSR?

Wow i thought this thread was about an oil warning light.. looks to me you all are arguing about purple lookin rotors.

anyways they have an oil pressure warning light. im not sure if it tells you when you need to change oil or add some..

btw. in order for vtec to work, these few things have to be up to par..

-correct amount of oil in the crankcase

-correct oil pressure

-normal operating temperature

-WOT

if you are experienceing problems with your "vtec" not working.. make sure you have enough oil, maybe its the wrong weight. gsr/itr's call for 5w30 or 10w30 synthetic. most run 5w30 in the winter time since its thinner and circulates faster. does the car burn oil? smoke? if so, you may want to do a compression test to see if you have a bad ring or 2. that would decrease oil pressure.. and if your even more curious to the shape of the inside of your motor, do a leakdown test

Also if your cars not up to normal operating temp, the ECU will not let the vtec cams switch over.. btw, its very bad on your motor to give it hell when its still cold.. just in case you didnt know.

anyways i know none of this probably helped.. but i figured i would just throw my 2cents in. :D

well i never thought that it would tell me to change the oil but i did think that it monitored the level but i ghess not lol..............(this meaning a dont have a problem now)

the car doesent smoke but it does seem to use quiet a bit of oil, the oil i use is shell helix ultra synthetic, 5w30 i belive.

yeah i did know about car having to be at normal operating temp before it would switch i keep it at low rpm till then.

Cheers for you advice dude

WOT isn't needed for VTEC to work...

If you track your car, you will crack those rotors pretty fast.

well at the mo i dont "track it" just street use, i've not heard of that before why would i crack em??? im not being funny when i ask that im just interested

haha at first glance they did look purple..but after going back and looking its just the glare.haha sorry bout that.. anyways if your oil light is on or if it flickers everyonce in a while it could be one of two things..

1. oil very very low causing bad oil pressure *most likely*

2. bad sensor

i know it did that on my 90 model civic, if it was low on oil, if i went around a turn sometimes the oil pressure light would flicker or come on.. but it has never done that in either of my integras so i dunno if it would..

Scott

btw.. on my civic the light *ONLY* came on when i was dangerously low on oil...like almost bone dry.. so yea

but i didnt care about that car so haha it didnt really matter

Ha ha no problem just thought it was funny, well to be honest i have never seen the light come on while driving, so like someone has already said i should just check my oil more often

heres ssr , mr track this, race that. 90% ssr are people with normal cars tryin to make em faster jesus boy havent you learned that. if your constantly havin to put oil in your engine than id say its leakin oil wouldnt you? why dont you do somin as simple as fixin your oil leak and be done with it altogether.

Wouldent i see an oil patch on my driveway if i park there every night and i had a leak?

im not constantley putting oil in my car i just thought that if my oil level was low then the warning light would come on/ flicker on.

your car has to be half out of oil basically for that light to come on. like 2 l down. yes if you were leakin oil you would have prolly seen signs of it , but maybe not in driveway. not all leaks happen at idle when car is just sitting there. they way your first post sounded was like you were puttin oil in in alot is all.

i dont realy know what would be concidered alot, this is the first car i have realy cared about lol.

i ghess then if its leaking while driving there will be signs of this around the engine???

OK i filled it with oil about two weeks ago, so if i remember i will check tomoz and let you know what level it is at to get more of an idea how fast its going through it

how often are you driving it?

low on oil because your leaking with no signs? thats odd

you said you filled it 2 weeks ago?

oil light is working.

id probaly say you have a leak somewhere, maybe while driving the car.

check under the car with a flashlight, or jack up the car, slide under and observe.

I drive it every day at least 200miles a week.

I put that 1.5l in today before driving the car and i noticed there was smoke/steam not realy sure which coming from where the dip stick goes into the engine .............??

oil light is working comes on pre ignition and goes off straight away but like i've said never seen it while driving.

I will check again over the next few days and have a good look round for any signs.

its very possible he has a main seal leaking if theres no signs. be it rear or front. if his rear main seal is leakin you really wouldnt see it that well nor would it put any oil on the ground while idling. front main seal youd notice more easily. if it was anythin under the hood hes see it obviously.

maybe your vavles or valve seals are shot, maybe thats causing oil to burn. rebuild your valvetrain or take it to an acura dealer and see whats up
