Paint Fading on the roof

It seems like fading paint is a known issue with hondas, does anyone know if honda of america has issued any bullitins/recalls regarding this issue? I have a '99 Accord EX V6 coupe, garaged its entire life, washed normally by hand and the paint began fading about a year ago right above the windshield. It almost looks as if the clear coat is failing and turning white. Has anyone heard of this? thanks

Is your car red???? just having a ghess, if its just general oxidation then it should cut and polish.

The car is Black Currant Pearl. It appears as if the clearcoat has peeled off the roof and starting on the left side of the hood. If I cut the car, removing the clearcoat, how do I reapply the clearcoat? Nu-finish is just the wax? Correct?

Oh i see, the reason i asked if it was red is that i have seen quiet a few red cars that have like a whiteish powdery finish to them, but it sounds like the laquer as failed on your car, dont quote me on this but it sounds like a body shop job to sort it out

yeah high speed buff with a soft top pad to cut it, wax, then polish with nu-finish...should look good as new

+1 and it may nead to be wetsaned berfor its buffed. See if you wetsand it it will cut through that clear coat that is faiding not alot but a little wich is all it should need. Then when it gets buffed it will bring back the shine and will look like new.

Clay is desined to remove over spray and doesnt work to well for oxidation. That is one of the first thins you lern when cleaning cars. Yes clay is nice for some things mainly over spray but it doesnt soke thins up just removes them frome the surface. when your car gets oxidised its in the paint not on top.

Ive got it happening to mine also, its on the boot door, just wash it then T cut it, wax/polish. When dry do one more wash. Then watch it shine an take a good picture :) It was a common thing with black, red and blue. Don't know why there is a reason, to do with the sun or something like that.
