ryderdm3
Hi. I'm recently started upgrading my audio system in my car. I've been doing it all myself, mostly because I'm on a budget and also I won't learn anything by paying someone to do it all for me. I'm trying to hook up a powered sub that I bought. I need to connect it to the battery and ofcourse run the power wire through the firewall. I've been looking around trying to find places where, but I'm very new at this so a lot of it isn't making sense. Do any of you have any tips as to where I could look for the a grommet to pass through, or having any helpul pictures for the project? Every website that I find will give decent instructions, but not many pics of the grommets that I should be finding and how I should be puncturing them. I appreciate any help you can offer, Thanks! TLontheDL
look closely. There "should," im not saying there is b/c i dont' own a 04 civic, but there should be a little slot in front of the driver side. there should already be wires going through there already. my sister has an 02 accord so ill check that since the opening should be the same and get back to you. ryderdm3
I looked around the driver's side but didn't find anywhere with a bunch of wires going through. Even if I did find one there I'm not sure I'd want to use it. The engine on the Drivers side is a mess and it would be a pain to run a wire all the way from there to the opposite corner where the battery is. I pulled back the carpet a little on the passenger's side and found this. http://www.dmartin.net/firewall1.jpg It's pretty far down and hard to reach from inside the engine though. That and the army of wires already goign through it. http://www.dmartin.net/firewall2.jpg
cranny
i have an 01 with subs. passenger side(of most hondas ive ever worked on for that matter) little more than halfway down. theres a grommet already there thats got your harness goin through it. its tight and well fitting so a little hard to work with. be careful of course not to damage anythin around it. use a razor or olfa knife cut a slit in the grommet. stick a coat hanger through and run your wires. be sure to not only cut a hole just big enough to fit through but seal it off again when done. oh and by the way , for a ground i used one of the plastic knobs commin out of the floor for a ground. hidden under the carpet and works well , just sand it down a bit. ryderdm3
I don't know how I'm gonna get this wire through. It's for this powered sub. Everything is already attached. The fuse towards the battery end, and on the other end it splices into the ground wire and another wire for a little jack that plugs into the sub. I'll take a small pic of the wire shortly. TLontheDL
use a coat hanger
ryderdm3
use a coat hanger I can see doing that if there was just the one wire. Even then it seems it would still be very hard to insert the wire through the front because the engine and stuff is all in the way. But with all these wires connected, I'm not sure if It's even possible to squeeze it in through that way at all. http://www.dmartin.net/wires.jpg
