juicesintegra Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Ok, so im rebuilding my b16a....i know that im getting je pistons and eagle connecting rods. any suggestions or advice on what i should get when i get to the valvetrain???? i was thinking some skunk 2 stuff but ive never done this before so i dont know whats good and not. I want a nice all motor B16 that will blow some doors off on the street.....please tell me some info if you know anything about this stuff....and, should i get new valves or just clean up and reuse the ones i have?? thanks.
SolLesHonda Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 i would say new is going tobe better ... skunk 2 valve springs/retainers are good, are you building all motor cus you want to, or cus you don't have the money for f/i ? cus that will answer a lot of questions for itnernal parts/valvetrain ... at least i would imagine
..SSR.. Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Junk the JE pistons, use CP 11.5:1. OEM rods or Crower ML. Rocket Motorsports M22X cams/valvetrain. Toda header ITR IM Hondata S200 I'm a dealer for Rocket Motorsports and CP, so PM me for prices.
..SSR.. Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Tolerances, Quality control. Neither as good as CP. CP are the best shelf stock pistons you can get. 2nd best customs.
SolLesHonda Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 but for a normal street car .. i thought JE were decent ... you are right, CP are great, but i think JE could make a good argument. i know a lot of people who have them, and love them ... and they have lasted .. but they are not running 20 psi either
xxscaxx Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 he wants all motor so he wont need to worry about running 20psi, but JE arent bad. but ..ssr.. is probably the most knowledgeable person on this board. as soon as i saw "building" and "all motor" i was pretty much 100% sure he would chime in.
SolLesHonda Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 im waiting for the day he hits 10000 posts
BigBirdSucks Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 if it means anything, I'll be switching from the Wisecos to CP pistons and Crower rods sometime after the next autocross season.
..SSR.. Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 CP's are lighter as well. I looked into this a have thought up a very nice setup, but will only disclose it to juices if he ask me to.
