I have a 2011 Honda Accord EX-L. Recently, I had to replace the wiper motor, which I did myself with some trepidation but ultimate success. However, right around the time I did that, it began doing something very strange. I'm not sure if my work triggered the new problem or if it's a coincidence.
Normally, my remote starter kicks in when I click "Lock" 3x on the key fob. Recently, though, it's been kicking in after I hit Lock just once. Or Unlock. Or turn the key in the door physically. Or press the lock or unlock all button inside the car, no fob involved. Basically, anything that activates the lock circuitry makes the car try to start.
I got an aftermarket remote start installed by the dealership at the time of purchase. I was able to find a box under the dashboard labelled Directed Electronics 556U, which I think is part of the remote start. However, when I disconnected that box entirely, the problem remains exactly as before. So I don't think that's it.
Any ideas what else I should check?
