2001 Honda Accord questions

My 18yo daughter bought her first car March 2016 that was owned by an elderly lady who unfortunately developed Alzheimers and her son decided it was time to sell the car. This car was in terriffic condition. Meaning, full leather interior, sunroof, automatic, and only 17K original miles as she only drove it to church, doctor and store. The car was so original..it had the original tires on it from 2001. They asked 5800 for it but I talked them down to 4800 for it after doing my research on KBB.com. First thing we did was buy a new set of tires for it. My husband has been changing the oil for her the past year. But her maintenance light is on and not sure why. Nothing sounds wrong with the car at all. Any ideas or suggestions what we need to check on? Is there a way for the light to turn off? Also...since the tires were orgininal..means everything else is too. She currently has 27k miles on it. Should we change out the water pump and timing belt/chain? Anyone know if its a belt or chain on these? Would hate for it to break on her and mess up valves and stuff. Want to keep it running great for her as she'll start college in August after she graduates. Thanks for any suggestions!

Oh, its a 2.3 LX sedan

Here’s how the maintenance required

indicator light works:

• During the first 6,000 miles (and every 6,000 miles

after the indicator is reset), the light comes on for two

seconds when you turn the ignition switch ON (II).

• Between 6,000 and 7,500 miles, the light comes on for

two seconds, then blinks for ten seconds when you

turn the ignition switch ON (II).

• If the mileage goes over 7,500 miles before the

vehicle’s scheduled maintenance is performed, the

light stays on continuously.

This is when you need to reset it.

How to Reset the Light

1. With the ignition switch OFF (0), press and hold the

select/reset button on the instrument panel.
