Honda HR-V Knock Sensor Error

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I have a Honda HR-V from 2001 with a D16W5 engine. I have rebuilt the engine. After the rebuild, everything was working well, untill some few hundred kilometers passed and one error appeared. The error is described as follows "knock sensor, bank 1, no signal". So i replaced the knock sensor. But that had no effect. So i concluded that it was not a sensor problem. I googled this problem and found some articles saying that my problem is that the ECU cannot adjust the advance on ignition timing. What have i done wrong? (i had help from a friend of mine who is a mechanic on the problem; he doesn't know what the cause is either)

I need to mention that all my mechanical "expertise" is from google. My qualification is as an electrical engineer. I bought this car very cheap, the engine was not working (spark plugs missing; gaskets leaking; etc) and i got it especially for "experience". But it seems i am over my head on this one. PLEASE HELP a poor unqualified "mechanic-wanna-be"!! :p
