I've got an 07 Civic Si with a blown engine............

For my first post.

 

This car has a knocking inside the engine somewhere, and I'm trying to figure out which way to go with this.

 

For my background I've rebuilt many automotive engines over 30 years, the latest being a Nissan Vq35 for an SER Altima I've been working on. So, I do know my way around engines.

 

I'm trying to decide whether, or not to just buy a used engine, or just rebuild the engine I have now.

 

Any tips/problems you can give me now would be greatly appreciated. [For example,on the Nissan engine it was horrible trying to get the main cap stud girdle off as it had special bolts for which all snapped the heads off when trying to remove].
