cfs3corsair Posted December 24, 2015 Share Posted December 24, 2015 So I was driving with my new honda that I bought a month ago. It is a 2003 Honda Civic Coupe. Before I bought, it was mechanically inspected and passed just fine. When I was driving though just now, I put on the high beams. Then my radio turns off by itself. Thinking that weird, I turned off the car to restart it, and then it wouldn't start. Upon being jumped, the thing barely runs. Turn on the high beams, and the engine wants to die. The RPM gauge is alternating between normal, reading 0 when it is running, or jumping all over the place. I apply gas and the RPMs increase, but I take off my foot and it takes a few seconds for the engine to respond (though perhaps that is due to the fact that it is running on fumes, according to the gas gauge). Lastly, the cruise control light was coming on and off randomly, and the check engine light is on. What the heck is going on? I am leaning toward a shot alternator. Help please? Thanks a bunch!
