Randolph B Brummett
Car: 1999 Honda Accord LX 4cyl Sedan The other day my engine turned off while I was at a stoplight. I started it back up and it died about 15 seconds later. It did this several times before I dropped it off at the nearest auto shop near where I live. They did an 'electrical inspection', but since I needed it the next day for an interview they couldn't narrow down exactly the problem. They said it was either the ignition wiring harness, or the main relay. I had the main relay replaced recently so I was hoping it wasn't that. I actually called up the shop and asked them about it and they said the people that inspected it were wrong. They also said they only use OEM parts so there's not a problem with faulty parts. No surprise there, but it didn't help. They mentioned the IWH was recalled by Honda, but by giving the Honda store my VIN they told me the ignition switch in my car was replaced during the recall (I bought the car used). I watched a youtube video about the main relay and many cracks in the sautering can cause connection problems so I removed my MR and inspected it. It didn't look like the videos but there was no places in the chip that looked cracked or old. Actually my car has been running fine the last few days and I even took it on the freeway, but I don't want to have it die in the next week or two because I neglected to find out the problem. Anyone have similar problems? Could it be the IWH, or ignition switch? I also had the battery, starter, and alternator replaced within the last year so it's probably not those that are the problem.
