hello i need help in telling me if this is a good deal or not? im thinking about buying a 1992 civic hatchback with D16Z6 fully built si model (5k miles on that motor and 150k on body) and a whole other motor and sub and system, extra seats, and much more plus extra parts (all clean). Exterior looks clean and interior is perfect. He is selling it for $2,700. All the work was done at a shop as the person i am thinking of buying it from says he has his own shop and fixes/sells cars. He says its really fast but i wouldnt know what do you guys think?

Ultimately being a good deal is up to the person paying the money, you mentioned a recent engine swap are there papers to prove that? And if so you have to wonder if any of the other parts have been put through the ringer. A general inspection of the car and whatever paperwork he has on maintenance should do all the talking. If the engine does only have as few miles as he is stating the belts and fluids should look pretty prestine wires and cap should look fairly new and in good shape, now for the fun part, any leaks? Check oil pan + valve cover/gaskets, brakes check behind tires, master cylinder, ABS, then coolant check oil dip stick make sure oil doesn't look milky, check hoses, return reservoir, and pet cock to ensure no coolant leaks, power steering check reservoir for fluids, check surrounding lines, turn steering wheel left and right with car powered on any squeals or unusual sounds, check shocks and struts car bounces more than a couple of times shocks and struts could use replacement lastly use good flashlight take a look at brakes and rotor condition make sure rotors are not ate up, and brakes are not down to nothing if you could give an overall grade of B or an A in those catagories you might have something worth paying around 2500 to 2700 for
