I have a 91 civic hatch dx with a 1.5 sohc and a automatic transmission. It has a really rough idle problem and i cant figure it out. it gets worse when stopping at stop lights and the car sometimes stalls when i stop. car runs fine when im driving and only does it when i stop then the car acts like its about to rattle apart until i get it to moving again. it also wants to bog down when i accelerate quickly, i was thinking oxygen sensor but i dont really know, any info on this problem?

No lights, it idles rough in park and gets alot worse when i put it in gear, runs fine while im running at a steady speed down the road but as soon as i stop for a light it goes back to idling rough. i have to put it in neutral while at a light then throw it in gear and take off to keep it from staling but it dosent work all the time. but the check light hasn't come on so far.

probably a weak spark or low compression, check both, replace plugs.

pretty sure the rough idle is fixed now, had a valve job done on it. But now I have a different problem; got the head back on, valve clearances set, timing set, everything done by the book. Well, i went to start it up and it reved wide open practically redlining. I shut the car off real quick, and honestly i'm afraid to start it back up.

Would appear that you buggered the accelerator linkage. It's mechanical, just get someone to hit the pedal for you when off and watch what moves where and adjust it as needed.

does anyone have a diagram of how the dashpot is supposed to be installed for a 91 civic dx 1.5 dpfi? I can't find anything on it, and i could have installed it wrong.
