Want to build an oval car for our local asphalt track, rules are:
Any 2002 or older SOHC or OHV 4 cylinder front wheel drive car (Except Ford Probe or Honda CRX) with a maximum wheelbases of 107" or less and a complete stock body, frame and suspension for that make of car is allowed. No DOHC, Ecotec, or Vtec engines, no 4 wheel steer cars.

There is a cubic centimeter to weight minimum for all cars in the Charger class.
A) 0-1799 cc. = 2200 pounds
B) 1800-1999 cc. = 2300 pounds
C) 2000-2199 cc. = 2400 pounds
D) 2200cc & up = 2500 pounds

There are more rules but you get the idea, must be stock. I am looking at honda because I believe in general they make more horsepower per liter than any other car, and if I can take advantage of the weight break for a 1799cc or less, that would be ideal.

I am unfamiliar with hondas, so thats why I am asking those of you that are, what car would you recommend building for this class?

It is approximately a 3/8 mile track, and there is a $1250 dollar claimer on the car minus belts and other safety equipment, so cannot spend a ton of money.

The 92-95 civic hatch is a great light non vtec, but it probably to much, 88-91 hatch would also be great, look for not a dpfi... they are gutless. Once you get one, we can help with tweaks too.

How about modifications?
