HONDA CRX 88 SI
It has had me asking the question for many years what exactly is final drive is it the teeth count of differential and the gear that drives it or what it is.
mpearce1974
This is the ratio that describes the difference between the number of times the driveshaft must turn before the axle shaft turns once. In a final drive ratio of 3.55:1, for example, the driveshaft must turn 3.55 times before the axle will turn once. The number of teeth on the ring and pinion gears determine the ratio. HONDA CRX 88 SI
Nice then i had it right then, but i was just a lil confused on the part that if any of the 5 gears would affect the final drive ratio if they where to be changed.
..SSR..
Final drive is the countershaft and ring gear. Lower FD (higher numerically) = lower top speed in each gear but faster acceleration. So if you want to hit lightspeed, you don't want a 4.7 or 4.9 FD.
